  17. <p>     People suffering from tuberculosis in New York City had
  18. better complete the full course of drug treatment if they want to
  19. retain their freedom. Plagued by too many patients who stop
  20. taking their medication after a few weeks rather than continuing
  21. for the six months to two years needed to achieve a cure, city
  22. health officials announced they will soon begin to confine the
  23. most recalcitrant patients in hospitals and long-term
  24. facilities. Detainees will have legal protections and be
  25. released when they finish therapy. Boston and Denver have
  26. adopted similar TB quarantines.
